Budget Android tablet?

dizmo

So due to space limitations I'm stuck doing a make shift 2 monitor set up with a laptop and a tablet.

It's not meant to be true 2 monitor; I can simply load Android apps that will serve the same purpose as the second screen.

So my question is this; What are some great budget Android tablets in the 10" range?
They can be old, as long as the OS support is 4.0 or higher. Higher the better.

Ideally the charging port would be along one of the longer sides, as it will be plugged in pretty much 24/7.

Battery life is a non issue. It likely won't leave the desk.

Nexus 7 (1st Gen) is a good budget tablet, you get the latest android too.

Another is ASUS MeMo Pad Smart 10 which runs 4.2.2. Has great Stereo speakers (rear-facing though), a Tegra 3 chipset like the 1st Nexus 7.

A 5MP rear-facing camera. Best of it all is it runs almost stock Android.

EDIT: I forgot you mentioned 10", so scrap the Nexus 7.

ASUS has a good series of 10" tablets. Don't go with the MeMo Pad 10 though, it has a RockChip chipset and has no gyro if you're gonna use the tablet for racing games.

There is also the MeMo Pad FHD10 which has a 1920x1200 screen and a gyro. Running an Intel Atom chipset.

Though the MeMo Pad 10 and Smart 10 only has a 1280x800 screen.

Toshiba Satellite C50 (A167)

  • Intel Pentium 2020M (Ivy Bridge, IHD 3000)
  • 8GB DDR3 (4x2)
  • 500GB Toshiba Slim 5400RPM
  • Win10 Pro x64

Huawei P8 (GRA-UL10)

  • HiSilicon Kirin 935 (arm64)
  • Android 6.0 (EMUI 4.0, TWRP 3, Sysless SuperSU)
  • 3GB RAM, 64GB NAND + 64GB SanDisk Ultra mSD

You can probably find an HP touchpad for cheap and run the latest cm on it, I have one and it's a pos and bloody slow but it'll serve the purpose.

Awesome thanks! That's a lot of great info.

It seems like there aren't many really cheap options out there that fit what I need.

I don't want something that's toooo slow. I might spend a little extra on the Nexus 10.
