Okay, So i'm building my first computer and plan on starting a youtube channel, i bought a msi gaming 5 Z97 MOBO, i want to use the sata M.2 port and 2 HDD 1TB WD blues in raid 1, can i use the m.2 as my boot drive and leave it out of the raid?

Yes. RAID allows the OS to address both of the drives as a single drive (among other things like redundancy of course) so you can write data to it and the data will still be protected in case of an OS failure.

When you make the RAID array, select the two HDDs and leave out the M.2. Then install the OS to the M.2 and select it in the boot order so that it boots there.
