I was originally thinking of going water for cooling my gpu (Sapphire Vapor-x 280x), however now i've discovered the Accelero Xtreme IV, and was wondering if it's compatible with my current card.

Or, does anyone have a recommendation for a silent cooling sollution that isn't incredibly pricey? I'm trying not to spend over £100 :)

Here you go http://www.arctic.ac/eu_en/accelero-xtreme-iv-280-x.html the special 280x version that is guranteed to fit. :)

If this one isn't available you can mount the normal Xtreme IV but you will need to look at manufacturing date of your card.

Isnt this based on reference design though? My card is a non reference card (Sapphire vapor-x), so I just wanted to double check the compatibility!

Honestly, if I knew how loud and awful the cooling would be when i initially bought it, i'd have gone for a cheaper model and just saved for a custom loop instead

That's why you want to get the special 280x version it will fit for sure.

Thanks for the confirmation that it will definitely fit! I'll order it on amazon (Since i'm in the uk, your link was for proper EU)

This seems to be the 280x version, so i'll order it! Thanks so much. (With the money i was going to spend on the kraken g10, heatsinks and liquid cooler, i can get a cooler for my cpu too :D)

Are you sure it's not a faulty unit? The Vapor-X has received a lot of praise recently, and it's only a 280x which is odd. I'd double check to make sure it is in fact meant to be that loud, check a few YouTube videos etc.

No problem btw it was the link to the manufacturer that also sells them.

But amazon has way faster delivery.

I made a video to showcase its loudness quite a while ago

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39-Az-1UxoY

It sounds like a hairdryer and is really distracting playing games, but the max temp i've seen it hit is 84c playing watchdogs (Which puts it under full load).

When I contacted Sapphire, they were pretty useless and told me that i was meant to contact the seller instead of them. I no longer have the original packaging though. Plus, I bought it from an ebay store when they were first released and there was a shortage of cards due to miners.

Unfortunately, i checked their page which stated this: http://i.imgur.com/1897Sb1.jpg

So I'm kinda stuck, and thought it might just be easier to get a new cooler.

Ah, that really sucks, Sapphire are known for their poor customer service sadly. In that case, it's best to go with an after market cooler then, good luck with the transition, let us know how it goes on this thread, and make sure you keep the packaging for the cooler this time.. ;)

Yeah, it really does suck, but I can live with a third party cooler. I've never been one for aesthetics anyway :)

As long as the Accelero definitely fits, then i'll buy it now. Alternatively, would anyone else recommend a different cooler? I'm open to most suggestions.

Might be that loud naturally, my gigabyte windforce(this cooler apparently has a 450 watt cooling potential) 280x is loud as fuck, I put a fan on the side panel so it can easily have fresh air but I still need for my hdd to come back from rma  to test to see if the case fan will shush the gpu. It does have a tdp of 250 watts, that is a lot

person below me is a scrub

I doubt it's meant to be. It's outpowering my speakers for christ sake, and was much louder than my voice when recording with a phone of all things. Plus, when sapphire saw it they told me to speak to who i bought it from. So I've e-mailed them again, since it's their issue :P

Hopefully they'll do something. If not, new cooler.. It's worth a try :)

What is the temperature btw? If it's low, you can drop the fan speed.
