Information about "The Corsair Legend":

Dorky name I agree...my fiance will come up with something better. This as I just started will be her primary computer to do schooling and gaming on, but at the same time, I am spending quite a bit of money on it for it to be decent for 5 years or longer with the exception of updating the system components as time progresses. She will primarily be using it as a daily user (she takes amazing care of electronics), upgrading from a core 2 dual laptop. The theme of this computer has to match purple...that was her request....

Anyways the games she will be playing are as follows:

  • The Sims 2, 3, & 4 (All Expansions)
  • Skyrim
  • Nancy Drew (She likes them)
  • Rollercoaster Tycoon Series
  • Call of Duty
  • Grand Theft Auto V
  • Tomb Raider
  • Some Horror/Survival Games
  • Minecraft
I do know that the 780ti is complete overkill but I think it will be good as a "future-proof" component.

Information about the "Premium Enthoo Pro":

This will be my primary rig. It will be used for heavy video encoding (2-3 movies at a time), along with gaming, music encoding, and dvd ripping (Personal use only). It will be used pretty heavily also as a media server for my Xbox 360 (we don't have cable and I'm lazy so I rip dvds to my laptop and watch them from streaming), in other words it will not likely be shut off at any point...except for maybe at night. Also I am trying to stay with a Black & Red Design, with a White LED around the window to "Showcase" the red interior.

The games I will be playing:

  • Thief (2014)
  • Total War
  • Need For Speed (Underground and up)
  • L.A. Noire
  • Grand Theft Auto (Vice City and Up)
  • Soul Suspect
  • Roller-coaster Tycoon Series
  • The Sims 2-4 (All Expansions)
  • Civilization
  • Age of Empires (Series)
  • That's just to name a few

I'd change those monitors. Not that they are bad, but they are quite behind compared to the system.

The Dell U2414H is a great monitor, for both gaming and general use. Great build quality and display.

You better marry this one! You are spending $2.5k on her rig :P

Maybe you have a couple of suggestions? I just want a red/black mouse (or all black mouse), with a red backlit keyboard.

It kind of depends how far you sit from it, for the majority of people 23-24" is the sweetspot. 27" 1080p looks slightly pixelated unless you sit a bit further away. if you want to go for a better display you can always get a 27" 1440p monitor, but they are more expensive.

I don't mind the extra money...as long as it still looks crisp...her's I plan on buying everything (except for the case, which I will pick up from microcenter in september) on Black Friday/Cyber Monday, along with parts of mine as well...I can stretch it out a bit till Xmas if I have to...since I have a quad core laptop to run on for now.

The Dell U2414H looks very crisp and fluid, with great colors and build quality. The stand on it is really good :) If you are fine with 1080p then check it out.

1440p displays will look more crips, more pixels make everything better, and they look great on 27" sizes. The Acer K272HULbmiidp is the cheapest good quality 1440p monitor from the common monitor brands we see around, however the stand is not very good. There are korean brands which offer good quality displays for even less money, Qnix and Shimian are two manufacturers that have great 1440p monitors, however the stands on their units are quite crappy too, but nothing an aftermarket vesa stand can't fix.

Better 1440p monitors with good stands come on much higher prices, which don't really make much sense, as their are closer to decent 4k monitor prices.

for many reasons

wireless and gaming don't really go well together maybe for me

they run on the 2.4GHz which is what many wireless device is using

input lag is the last thing I want when gaming
