Hello.

I have a couple of questions regarding Steelseries products.

First Question:

Does the Qck series of mouse mats come in extended editions? Like the Qck Mass,Qck Heavy and Qck+. What mouse mat would you recommend out of those?

Second Question:

What's the difference between Apex keyboards and Mechanical? Also does any Mechanical Steelseries keyboards come with RGB LEDs on the keys like Corsairs going to do?

I also have a question off topic, does the Logitech G502 allow RGB colors, another than blue ;)? Another thing, would you recommend the Steelseries Sensei wireless or what mouse would you recommend that has more than one color?

Thanks.

So, i didn't find any "XL" version of steelseries mouse pads but i didn't search everything...
You can choose other brands for mouse pad like corsair , logitech or razer, but steelseries has pretty reasonable prices. Just pick one :P:P
About the Apex and the mechanical question..... Just go mechanical ! Unfortunatelly there is no mechanical keyboard from steelseries with RGB :(

Finally, the G502 does not have RGB colors and its stuck with this (personal opinion)stupid blue LED.
I personally want to try the Func MS 3. If you have big hands i bet you'll like it but i wouldn't recommend it otherwise. (and yes it has RGB colors)

The QcK series includes those other QcK pads you mentioned. Just go to SteelSeries' homepage to see all the available sizes. Basically, QcK is the standard size, QcK Mass is a thicker QcK. QcK+ is a larger pad and QcK Heavy is a thicker QcK+. Then there is the QcK mini which is the small version.

Apex is membrane keyboard. Most people these day recommend mechanical keyboards over membrane because mechanical keys feel so much better. There is always that small minority who prefer membranes though. And no, SteelSeries' mechanical keyboards do not have RGB LEDs. Until the end of this year, Corsair has a deal with Cherry to be the only one who can make RGB Cherry MX keyboards. There are some keyboards with limited RGB LEDs such as Tesoro Lobera Supreme, but they use Cherry MX clone switches which are not as good as the real ones.

Don't buy any Steelseries products since they made cheap with low quality standards. Get another keyboard like Qpad, Func, Filco, Ducky

Really? Have you had SteelSeries products, and all those you've listed? That would be the opposite of my experience with SteelSeries products over the last few years.

Both my Rival mouse and 6GV2 (Red's) keyboard are built like tanks, in a great way. They are solid, and definitely feel built to last, which I fully expect they will for a while. My Siberia V2's are almost 3 years old too, and they're still great, even after travelling across Canada a few times.

OP, the SteelSeries mechanical keyboards are not flashy like others, so if you're looking for flash then you'll need to look elsewhere. I am throughoutly happy with my 6GV2 keyboard with Red's however.

Never say it's not broken. Everything is broken. Why? Because everything needs MOAR POWA!

Thanks for answering my questions!

I can't seem to find all the sizes on there website if I click on one of the pads. Atleast pictures of them.

No, they don't have any keyboard with backlighting and especially not RGB LEDs. Atm only Corsair has this feature. Don't buy any Steelseries products since they made cheap with low quality standards. Get another keyboard like Qpad, Func, Filco, Ducky

I will be getting the corsair vengeance k95 or k70 when they come out in RGB backlighting.

Actually I had or still have until tomorrow :D I got three Sensei this year which all broke after a few months. When it comes to production parts Steelseries isn't the best choice, they simply sell way overpriced products and tell you it's "Gamer Hardware". The Siberia Elite for example has the worst microphone that you can buy on this planet and the whole headsets costs 250€ on their website. The Zalman ZM-Mic1 for 6€ is 10x better and costs nothing compared to theses "Gamer" Stuff. Just have a look on youtube and listen to some soundfiles. I won't complain about design or the overall compability since they give you lots of adapters so that you can use the headset on PS4 or connect it via USB etc. but this doesn't compensate the real bad mic, which is the most important part on a headset if you ask me.

The main problem is that most gamers never tried some real good headphones and an external mic. I bought many of these headsets over the years from Logitech, Steelseries etc. and everytime I felt that I bought something good but actually you're buying cheap crap that is mostly made out of plastic and if it brakes you need to buy a complete new headset. Try a Beyerdynamic DT770 and a ModMic or Zalman ZM-Mic1 which you can get for less than you need to pay for the Siberia Elite and trust me, you'll be really happy plus if something brakes you can buy any part of the headphones seperate and repair your headphone. I doubt that you would need anything new for the next 10-20 years with proper quality headphones.

Most of the mechanical keyboards are always pretty solid because it's the usual way all mechanical keyboards are build. The steelplate that holds the switches is pretty heavy and stabilizes the keyboard.

I know that this is a more or less subjective opinion because I was always disappointed when I bought their products.

What (Gaming) mouse do you recommend?

Depends on you handsize. In the past I was really happy with the Logitech products. I have pretty large hands and prefer mice like the G700 or older G5, MX518 models. I ordered the new G502 and hopefully this will be a mouse for the next years. If you are open to more unknown companies you can have a look at Mionix or Func. Mionix has different products for small and big hands or even lefties. But my favorite would be Zowie, they offer keyboards and mice etc. in some oldschool look. Zowie makes good Sensei-like mice that have good reviews and in my opinion their biggest advantage is that they work out of the box. No drivers or special software needed. If you really looking for something like the Rival or Sensei you should try Zowie, they have the EC1 and EC2. Huge disadvantage is that you can't buy their stuff everywhere and they are pretty expensive compared to others.

Ok thanks. I dont like Logitech because most of the time they only have blue LED's.

Then you should have a look at Mionix. They have customizable LEDs in there products. The LED of the G502 I got today can only be turned on/off and dimmed to a certain brightness.

Thanks! By just looking at the Specs of the AVIOR 8200 it looks good! What mouse would you recommend: Steelseries Sensei MLG Edition,AVIOR 8200 or Naos 8200 Ergonomic?

EDIT: Found a video of the software.

A better sensor than the 8200 and the Naos 8200?

Yes, the Naos 7000 and Avior 7000 are the best offerings from Mionix. The laser sensors in the 8200 series have a small amount of acceleration while the optical sensors in 7000 series are considered "flawless".

I was about to say that aswell, go for the 7000s. They are not only cheaper, they are better (imho) aswell.

The only thing is that the 7000s don't have 72mhz.

EDIT: The thing I don't like about the Mionix mice is they don't have double braided cables. Any other mice recommendations or do they have double braided cables?

Naos 7000 at least has a braided cable. Also, the processors' megahertz in mice do not really matter at all.

The MS-3's RGB lighting is a bit silly though. Having it in any color other than orange looks silly because of the orange locked dpi LEDS, and the orange accented cable

Edit: For OP, I still would prefer the MS3 over the Mionix mice

Specs: 4790k | Asus Z-97 Pro Wifi | MX100 512GB SSD | NZXT H440 Plastidipped Black | Dark Rock 3 CPU Cooler | MSI 290x Lightning | EVGA 850 G2 | 3x Noctua Industrial NF-F12's

Bought a powermac G5, expect a mod log sometime in 2015

Corsair is overrated, and Anime is ruined by the people who watch it

  • 1 month later...

I think the G502 has RGB lightning, at least the DPI light can turn both light blue, dark blue and green. You can't change the colors manually though.
