Heya guys I'm looking to plan a build for a gaming pc for my Bro the thing is its a surprise from myself and family so cant ask him what he would want lol.  Well I haven't built a pc since 2012 and not sure what hardware is best value for your money as tech moves so fast lol.

basically my budget it £650 pounds. I am hoping to go down the intel i5 route as I did with my rig but I know it can be costly so I just want to see what my options are.  I'm not fussy about Brands for example NVidia or AMD.  Also I'm wondering would an AMD build be good for gaming or should I just stick with Intel.

Any advice would be much Appreciated.

Is a copy of Windows or any peripherals needed?

This belongs in the New Builds and Planning section. I'm moving the thread.

Heya sorry about that my bad. Windows 7 64bit  is needed and no keyboards or mouse is required. My location is the UK and budget is £650 pounds sterling which would work as around 1100 US Dollars.  Also the Pc will be used for gaming and home use such as internet use and college work.  Hope this helps :)
