Thoughts on my first build.

Hey guys, i'm planning on building a computer soon for playing games such as Battlefield and Far Cry at 1080p.

This is what I have picked for my build, I also live in Australia and my budget is around $750.

Case - Antec One Gaming Case($69.99)

MOBO - MSI H77MA-G43($89.99)

CPU - Intel i3 3220($119.99)

GPU - MSI GTX660 OC 2GB($220.00)

Power Supply - Corsair CX-500 Modular 80+($85.00)

RAM - Corsair Vengeance 8GB($55.99)

HDD - WD Blue 500GB($62.00)

OS - Windows 7($92.00)

Cheers,

Looks good,

I tried stripping down my usual list that comes into about $900 but could only get down to $800 in an aim to get you a slightly better processor. I haven't tried any of the low end CPU's but I have my doubts about your expectations for those games at 1080P if you're playing on moderate settings.

Other than that, good luck :)

Thanks,

Well apparently the new i3's are meant to be alright. Duncan33303 on YouTube built a pc with a i3 3220 and a HD7850 and can play Battlefield on high and averaging around 50-60fps at 1080p.

Yeah that's fine man.

The 3220 is absolutely fine for gaming and won't bottleneck the card. Go for it.

I'd like to suggest changing your GPU to the new Club 3D Joker 7870 xt

http://www.overclock3d.net/reviews/g...ition_review/7

OverClock3D just did a review and look at this card, and it is destroying everything in the price range. It's a much better deal than the 660 OC. Not sure where it's available but if you search around I'm sure you should be able to find somewhere to order if not pre-order from.

Another bonus to getting an AMD card is currently they have their Never Settle promo which you get a couple free games, FarCry 3 and Hitman Absolution.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Ask me about Bitcoin, Litecoin, Crypto-Currencies, and/or Mining them.

  • 2 weeks later...

Yeah I picked up a 7870 over the 660 you can find them for just a little more money and you get farcry for free ;) so I'd definitely think about it

Add an SSD later prices are always falling but I don't think you were going to pick one up anyway

Defiantly stick with the 660ti. I had mine for a few months and its amazing.

If you could spend a bit more money at some point I would get a better processor. But if you can't, that would be fine.

he's currently looking at getting 660 not TI ;) I really think a 7870 would be better purchase atm with the game and good OC'ing
