I am moving into a new place and I am ditching all of my old networking hardware. I have a 2000 sq ft single level house that is fairly square. I want the best performance and single quality through out the entire house. I have a limit of $600 for all of the modem, router, 4+ port switch and wireless access point.

How many devices gona be using this network? and how many of them you want to be connected directly to modem/router via wire (wired will always be faster than wireless)?

PLEASE QUOTE OR TAG (WITH @) ME IF YOU REALLY REALLY REALLY WANT ME TO REPLY!!!!!!!

Also if your issue is solved don't forget to mark the thread as solved!

There will be 3 PC's always connected wired and there will be between 6-25 wireless devices connected at any time.

a rough floor plan of the house might be good

it give us an idea which router to pick and how to route the LAN cables

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

^^ this if you are on a budget

or the Asus RT-AC68 AC router

but the router must be place right in the center of the home for best coverage for WiFi

I've already router cat6 to where the PCs are and I'm away from my PC right now so I can't give you a floor plan but the worst area for signal will be through 5 wall each containing electrical wiring.

that nighthawk router and just cable to the PC's I think...

I've borrowed a friend's ASUS RT-AC68U and it doesn't penetrate through a couple of the farthest walls so wanted a WAP that was stronger than that.

No reason why you couldn't add a decent WAP to the Asus.

I have already ran all of the Ethernet cables and I would like to not have to run another. I would like to use a single powerful WAP instead of a consumer router and a separate WAP. I was looking at the Ubiquiti UniFi AP AC but I was looking for others input.

If you want powerful gear, look at Ubiquiti's EdgeRouter Lite and their APs, and throw in any gigabit ethernet switch. I have the normal AP-LR and find that it has quite good range (even through the exterior brick walls), and the speed is quite good too (less than my old ASUS N66u, but it's understandable as it uses slower technology, plus the range is quite better).
