Minimum GPU recommended for 1440p?

I have a 7870ghz right now and it does great in 108p but was wondering if i could run games on low at 1440p on it? If not what card would you reccomend. Also dont just go out there and recommend a titan.Keep budget in mind.

I would recommend an r9 290 if you can afford it. If not, yout 7870ghz is fine for medium settings.

What VRAM model is your 7870 GHz? The minimum I'd say for 1440p is a 270X if you're willing to overclock, 280 non-X if you're not. But a 3GB model at the least. 2GB just isn't cutting it for 1440p (barely cutting it in new games at 1080p maxed)

I have 2gb card, forgot to take the 4gb into acount, my thought was grab the monitor (need a new one) And upgrade around christmas. Or sooner depending on new card info if theres no release dat bye the end of aug, im gonna get a 290x.

I'm running a 290X at 1440p. It can handle everything on high at 60fps or more except Metro Last Light, Watchdogs, Witcher 2 (ubersampling enabled).

my 7870 runs it ultra Oced at 57 fps avg multi player, i play on high to boost tat tho.

I would say a 290, or a 780. This is coming from someone who runs a 1440p monitor. The graphics setup I have is just a bit better than a 780 and I can get 50-60 on ultra in bf4 most of the time.

depends. At high do you expect good frame rates? My 780 is bad for QHD on BF3

what kind of fps are you looking for. and what settings do you wish to play on. it can easilly pull anything on ultra.. but playing at 10 fps doesnt work that well
