Hi what do you think..would a 660 sli be a better buy than 670/680? SLI cost like 30 buck mire than 670 and like 100 bucks cheaper than 680. Im fairly educated about sli performance but im not at the smoothness of the sli configuration. Ive heard just good things from nvidia sli but im little sceptical that single 670 would be smoother even at lower fps. I know bunch of you are going tobsay that you apways have to go for the best single gpu you can afford.. But sadly a single 660 will be my budget for a while.. And little kater i was going to go sli. Oh and no amd cards... Im starting tondrift away from them.

A 660 is a very low end card. I think you mean a 660Ti, and no I don't recommend you use that. The 660Ti is a crippled (Bottle-necked by itself) card. The memory bandwidth is a bottleneck to it's GK104 chip. You should always get the highest end and fastest card available and SLI/Crossfire that. Also, consider getting a 7950 or 7970 and Crossfire those together. A 7970 is much faster than a 680 in graphically and intensive games. It even has MUCH faster compute power over the 680. The 7970 has great games coming with it as well. A 7950 is just a lower end 7970. You can overclock it to be faster than a 7970, which means be much much faster than a 680 (Remember the 7950 is a $300 card). So for $600 you'll be getting a $100 690 performance (Approximately). If you're willing to spend a thousand bucks on a graphics card, get a 7990 or a Titan. Do not go Crossfire/SLI if you have such a budget. But in my opinion either go 7950CF or 7970CF.

If you just don't like AMD, then get 2 670's in SLI. Make sure you have at least 750W of power (I would recommend an 850W PSU).

Cheers!:D

Wait for maxwell and get a single 770/780.

The 780 should only be a bit weaker then the titan.

Im talking about non ti versions.. its just i cant buy 7950/670 in a single buy. and was going to sli 660 later. Comming from a single 6950. Is it really that bad? Have you tried it? Because rumors wont cut it.

It's no rumors, it's base of benchmarks off the internets. I'd suggest getting the 7950/7970. Both outperform the 670 and 680 and they come with 4 times as much free games as the NVIDIA equivalent. Also they are much cheaper and they overclock like hell.

The 700 series aren't maxwell. Maxwell is coming next year and might blow the titan out of the water. But to wait another year is madness. I myself would never go for SLI because it is not efficient and power spilling. You are using twice the power but you are not getting twice the performance. And then there are the frametime issues which I can't comment because I have not experienced an SLI/CF setup yet, but they exist apparently.

If you really want to game right now then buy the best card for your money and that is the 7870 xt/le. http://us.ncix.com/products/?usaffiliateid=1000031504&sku=78372&vpn=AX7870%202GBD5-2DHPPV3E&manufacture=PowerColor&promoid=1079

At this price it has the best price/performance ratio of all cards out now.

If you can wait a bit then wait out the release of 700 series as they will drive overall graphics card prices down.

If you only want nvidia, maybe for PhysX or cuda or lower power consumption at load, go for at least 660ti for smooth single card gaming at 1080p high settings.

I think you should specify more, what do you want to use card for. As posts made before me, AMD can be great alternative to nvidia if you dont use cuda. Main reason is great overclocking for its price.

The first card gtx 700 series will be here soon, maybe next week. I belive first out will be 780. I am absolutely certain the prices wont drop immediately, nvidia got $$ in their eyes, since AMD is not releasing "Volcanic Islands" 22nm graphic cards until christmas holidays. If you are buying now, you will only benefit from buying used 660 since people will start selling their cards in order to upgrade. If you can get hands on cheap and WORKING 660, it will serve you until 22nm graphic cards whether you choose AMD HD9xxxx or Nvidia Maxwell 8xx next year.

What resolution do you play?

A Single 670 performs very well on 1920x1080

Consider 7950 :)

You clearly dont know what are you talking about because sli 660 worth less than a single 680 and pulls ahead by substancial amount.

And no.. Im not giving amd another try.. Ive been using amd for quite some time. Its just that on nvidia the lower fps actually feels smoother to my eye. But who knows.
