Here is the article: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-28193654

Heathrow and Manchester airports have told passengers to ensure all electronic devices carried as hand baggage are charged before travel if they are flying to the US.

British Airways has said that its customers face being made to rebook if they are found in possession of an uncharged device.

Is it just me or does anyone else find this overly excessive? Not being allowed to board if your phone isn't charged? This to me personally seems pretty useless, does the US think that everyone is a terrorist at the moment? Seems like it to me. So they'll even make sure the terrorist has a nice full battery to last him/her the flight? :D

In all seriousness though, are the any actual point in these checks or are they just a bit excessive? What do you peeps think? I think i may put on my tinfoil hat, hacking into phones to siphon your data during the flight? NSA? :D

This.  This is the dumbest thing I've read all day.  I understand that extremists do exist, but a PHONE?  You can't possibly fit enough explosives in there to do any damage can you?

Oh and btw, be sure to read the whole article. The US itself is ordering airports that have international flights to the US to implement the checks. If i was Heathrow CEO i would tell them where to go and stop flight to US, but business is business and they obviously complied.
