SLR cameras are usually over 300 the canon T3 is on sale but you can find really decent non slr digital cameras canon or nikon like

Used Nikon D300 are going cheap where I'm at. Extremely so. Due to their lack of a video function right at the paradigm shift that introduced it into mainstream, they depreciated abnormally fast, but for just photography it's still firmly semi-pro level.

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.

Nikon D3000 is an option. You can get that with a kit lens for under $300 on Amazon. However, that camera does have limited functions, such as it can't record video, no live view, and a few others I can't think of right now. I used to have one and it's a good beginner camera. I never took that baby out of Auto :P
