G3258 RAM

Go to solution Solved by dragoon20005,

So i would have to go into the motherboard bios and change the default ram settings? Or it all should just work perfectly?

mobo will be the main factor for supporting RAM rated speed

best before buying RAM, refer to the QVL for supported memory list so that you can verify if the RAM you intent to use is supported by the mobo

Doubt it. It just won't work, nothing interesting will happen.

It will work with 1600mhz RAM, and even higher RAM for that matter, but due to the limitations of the CPU it will be downclocked to 1333mhz RAM. It should work perfectly fine with higher than rated frequency RAM.

The spec is at 1333 just to cover Intel's butt. 1600mhz or higher should work just fine.

Ram isn't 'downclocked' to 1333. 1333 will be the default clock and any higher is essentially an oc that you have to dial in or enable in the motherboard settings.

Yeah, but will it work at 1600Mhz or will it be limited to just 1333?

Just go to the settings and change the settings. If the ram supports XMP profiles, just enable that instead.
