Hello everyone,

This is my first personal computer build, and as I feel l know enough to build a rig there is always somewhere I get lost. I'm having trouble understanding specific wireless adapters and the PCI slots they correspond with. I have a MSI Z77A-G45 motherboard (link down below), and an Edimax EW-7128Gn wireless adapter (link also below). Now as far as I'm concerned the motherboard doesn't come with on-board WiFi. Reason to why I bought the wireless adapter. Now when I try to install the adapter the tabs seem too be too wide. From my research I've come to the conclusion the the adapter is an Universal (3.3V & 5V) 32-bit PCI card design. But! Where I get lost is at a quick glance it looks like it may fit, it doesn't. The two outer tabs are too wide. They each have 11 pins, whereas my PCI slot looks like it will only possibly take 9. If any question I will be glad to answer to the best of my knowledge.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Thanks, I figured I would have to get another one. Should I be looking for a specific wireless card design?

PCI/PCI-E cards tend to perform better than their USB counterparts, but since PCI cards aren't compatible with your motherboard, look for a PCI-E card. Good luck, and be sure to download its latest drivers off the internet.
