In my computer i have one single 1TB Hard Drive with my OS and everything on, but in the near future i want an SSD for some critical applications and my OS and i have heard alot about RAID. So what if i want full capacity and speed of both drives and make them show up as independent?

You can keep both the drives separate, and have OS+programs on the SSD, and use the HDD for storage. RAID doesn't fit in here. Also, I don't recommend using a dedicated SSD as a cache unless you have a large array of HDDs.
