Im just thinking way into the future. Right now I have a single gtx 770 and an fx 8320. Ive been saving up and I would like to make the switch to intel, get this board, and do an sli set up.

i think the 770 will support 3-way SLI i know it will support 2-way SLI

Hm, 3 way SLI? I think the 770 can only do two, anyway, its not really useful if it's more than two.

I went and looked on the original box and it does support 3-way sli, but the asus vi formula mobo only supports 2 way sli. I get your point though that some/most games dont work well with 3 way sli...

Yes , but in 4x i believe, you should consider the slot take up size of the graphics card you're going to use with it otherwise you'd have to purchase the PCIE Expander as well with it to fit in the cards..

If you don't own the board already then I would shoot for a z97 board. Also, as others have stated SLI drops off pretty quick after 2 cards so its not really worth it.
