WiFi extending...

Go to solution Solved by ShadowCaptain,

I know it's not a fraud, but the place he bought from a.k.a the sellers and the retailers here....

The worst place ......

BTW, About the powerline thing, how good are they? Can you recommend one please?

The are very good, as long as your house is not ancient and your wiring is all on the same circuit they work well, you could also run an ethernet cable upstairs and use a wireless access point, then you do not have to use a repeater

Depends on your budget

The worst place? its hard to help you when I dont know where you live, things that are available to me might not be available there so I do not know what to recommend

Hey guys! So may or may not know that I recently bought D-Link 2750U router from Amazon at 50% off. So far, it's working good, better comparatively to last one. But, I have issues regarding WiFi. I have set up my router in my room. Most of the PCs in our house are upstairs. So, the problem is, we don't get good WiFi below in the Hall, Bedroom and the garden. I can't get good signals there, it just goes weak as I enter my Hall.

So, what I have in my mind is, bridging two routers. Is that possible? I'll just set up my old 2730U downstairs and I'll extend my DSL cable a bit. Can I do this? The old one will be only for WiFi.

I can't buy any repeaters here because all of them are fraud type of companies. My friend had got one from TP-LINK, It didn't even start..

Or should I get something else? That Hotspot thing, which is round etc etc...

Please help me.. can't stay without internet :D

If you bridge your routers everything will run at the speed of the slowest components, what about some powerline wifi extension kits?

TP Link are not a fraud unless you bought a fake one? if thats what you mean

Tplink is a horrible manufacture. I spent $50 on a pci wifi card, wouldn't even connect half the time. The half it did it worked okay, but would disconnect all the time. It is a common problem with the companies products, I done a ton of research on it. I just bought a usb wifi adapter and it worked flawless the whole time I used it. I have $150 router, there is no reason the card shouldn't have worked. Just a bad company.

Thanks :). This'd be the best answer! Gotta go to the market ( a good one ) to buy a 100ft cat5/cat 6 cable and an access point!

TP-Link are the  worlds biggest provider of wireless and lan components in the world (42%)

Granted they sell some budget crap, but some of their stuff is decent, either way, it should still turn on even if it isnt the best quality

probably the best option, its easier than messing around trying to configure a second router and more reliable than wifi bridging or powerline

Just because something is the biggest doesn't mean it is the best. The card I had would see my network but never connect. I done a ton of research before buying the usb wifi and as it turns out the card doesn't really support 5ghz like it claimed, 2ghz is iffy. Everyone who had a 5ghz router could not connect with the card. Possibly a software issue I don't know, what I do know is when 5ghz is becoming more standard there is no reason an advertised card should not work with it. Especially with as many people who had an issue.

Oh they are far from the best, in fact generally the most popular is often the worst, look at prestige cars, the manufacturers that run low volume often have higher quality!

But I worked in a PC store for 7 years and sold thousands of TP link products and they had just as many issues as more expensive netgear and asus options, they were bottom quality but worked reasonably fine

Just speaking from my own experience and knowledge
