CPU Fan Running at 100%

This may sound dumb...but the fan was working normally until I restarted the computer.  I tried setting up fan controls in debian but it said no pwm sensors detected.  The bios is pretty locked down and there's nothing about fans in there.  How do I stop this annoying noise?!?!  I tried removing the cmos battery if that helps.
