B85 + i7 4790

Hi guys!

 

Like everybody who post something in this section of the forum, I've got a problem.

 

I recently purchase an Asus B85M-G and an i7 4790. I build my PC with that and 16GB of Kingstone HyperX Fury Black and an Asus GTX 750 Ti.

 

Now I'm facing a black screen when I start the computer... No BIOS or anything... Juste a message telling me that there is no VGA signal when I turn on and off my monitor...

 

I already tried to swap the RAM and the graphic card...

 

I know that the Haswell Refresh is not officialy supported on B85 chipset but Asus as a BIOS update that make it compatible.

 

What I would like to know is what can I do to at least see the BIOS or something to do the update ?

Is it possible ? Do I need a Haswel non refresh CPU to do it?

 

Any answers are appreciated

as far as i know works the 4790 only on Z97 boards, maybe you can do a bios update

It was stupid that they didnt mention that they only work on Z97/H97 mobos

A lot of 8 series boards have support for Haswell refresh:

Solved it!

 

I needed to put an "old" haswell, install Windows, use the Asus BIOS Updater for Intel 4th Gen CPU with the updated version of the BIOS and finaly restart with my i7 4790...

 

So finaly a B85 mobo is compatible with Haswell Refresh with the proper BIOS Update. Good to know

but an i7 with a gtx750 is a bit overkill

i5 would have been better though
