msi or gigabyte?

Go to solution Solved by helping,

Overclocking or SLI? MSI

Doing neither? GB.

The GB board can still overclock, just probably not as well. If you're not looking for aggressive clocks, it should be ok.

Hello, im going to build a new computer soon, and i wonder which motherboard is the best, so please can you tell me the pros and cons of each motherboard, because motherboards are really hard to compare for me.

i really want to go as cheap as possible, but without any major quality, preformance, sound, etc decrease

also, im going to use a gigabyte graphic card, will a gigabyte motherboard increase preformance for that graphic card?

the two motherboards are:

msi z87 g45 gaming socket

and

Gigabyte G1.sniper B5

for me, the gigabyte g1 sniper is about 30 euros cheaper, but is it worth saving the money?

(if you want to recommend another motherboard, at about the same price class, feel free to do so, but it must have haswell support)

If you don't need any special features, pretty much any 1150 motherboard will do.

The motherboard doesn't affect performance and quality is pretty decent all-around for 1150 boards. There are better built boards available but they don't make a difference for most cases.

you might as well just get the Z87 board and be done with it.

A refresh chip will be fine for years.

MSI ive heard problems with GB boards

everyone has heard problems with every board, so buy none of them.

The only thing brand for your card does is change how heat is dissipated, I think. And whether or not you get it overclocked out of the box.

Maybe some proprietary software.

don't quote me on that tho

does anyone know the answer to my last question : will a gigabyte motherboard increase performance for a gigabyte graphic card?

No. Like I've already posted above, the motherboard doesn't affect performance.

i found the video where i got it from

The performance isn't inherent of just plugging the graphics card into the motherboard. What Linus is saying is that there would be more options for overclocking. It's still just overclocking.

still, that's a reason to believe that gigabyte might have done something similar with their motherboards, to improve the overclock/nonoverclock performance :P

Ive spent a fair bit of time comparing quality, features and needs and the msi z97 gaming series is close to best bag for buck you can find.

No, it isn't. Vga hotwire is exclusive to ROG Extreme motherboards.

Though the organization of the board leaves something to be desired... Still, great deal.
