So basically my conundrum is this: I have a lenovo y580 with windows 8 installed on a 1tb Hdd. I recently purchased a Crucial 256GB MSATA SSD which I intend to use as the OS disk. What is the best way of getting the OS onto the ssd? I don't have a copy of windows 8 and I prefer an actual install rather than a migration :/ Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated :)

ive seen few programs that can migrate all data from orignal drive to new then just install new drive. when i do computer repairs tho i use a zaleman ve-300 its an external HDD case that has a virtual drive built into it so i have a collection of .ISO files i made that i can boot from computer see's it as a CD/DVD..

this isnt exact program i seen in past but same concept

I personally usually install OS using a USB memory stick rather than a CD. There are tools that you can use to get a disk image onto the memory stick if that is what you mean.

Is this the real life? Or is this just fantasy?

Any suggestions? I would prefer something cheap, or even free :)

I mean legally you would need a disk image of the CD on your computer to make use of this.

yeah i know that. but what's a good program to do that?

Well one thing that i read is that lenovo won't accept a regular windows 8 disk. Something to do with a bios lock or something like that.
