I'd recommend an IPS-type panel for product design- better, more vivid colors.

If you're only going for 1080p, I have an Asus MX239H and I love it. Stand's a little wobbly but not only does the screen look nice the chassis looks excellent too.

 

It's 23", but there's a 27-inch model too, at $200 for the 23" and $300 for the 27".
