edit: new question in the comments

So with my new rig im getting a 7970 which ofc has the dvd-i ports for display. I have the avermedia LGP capture card which only has HDMI in and out. I have a few options...

1.) Buy an dvi-d to hdmi converter and plug into avermedia, then use regular hdmi to plug into monitor.

2.) do the same thing but convert it back to dvd-i before going into the monitor.

and will this have any performance decrease with my system? (the converting)

i dont think it would. My guess is that is may(not certainly) decrease the max hertz that the monitor can output but the gpu performance shouldnt be affected.

My guess would be to use option 1 but its al your choice in the end. If it doesnt work then option 2. I dont think one is better then the other in this situation

In my experience the DVI to HDMI converter adversely affected color and resolution crispness. But that was way back in 2009 on my Radeon HD 4890 CF rig.

my monitor has the whole pin set but says dvi d, is it possible to have any conflicts with the holes not working and should i just go with this one? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812189056
