4790k or 4820k?

Go to solution Solved by SAV1OUR,

Stated above, indie game development and general gaming, and multiple cards

id stay stick with 4790k and wait for x99 if you feel like you need the extra power

Ive been planning a upgrade to a 4790k on a asus z97pro and a nepton 280L, now I am doin indie game dev, and general gaming, and just come across the 4820k (totally slipped through when I was looking a ivy-e), I was looking at the 4930k but unforutunatly budget wise I cant get it with a mobo and the nepton, but I know that I can get the 4820k for cheaper than a 4790k, soo can anyone recommend a good x79 board to go with a 4820k and a nepton 280L within a £537 budget thats left, was thinking of the gigabyte x79-up4 seems like a good board!? Btw anyone who says x99, ddr4 is not worth it imo, and I got nearly new ddr3!

yer from a guy that uses 2011 for After effects and video editing it is useless if your not getting the 4930K , just go with the 4790K you will probs be able to get the same performance i get with my OC 4930k at 4.6 on 12 threads with your 8 if you get decent enough water cooling.

exactly as i said 4930k or 2011 ( x79 ) is pointless, better off from a price to performance ratio going with the 4790k :)

"On 1600" go higher freqs, then it's worthy

well as linus has pointed out a few times , 1866 for a few extra pound or dollars is really worth the speed boost from a price to performance ratio and standpoint :).
