Need help for a friend

Go to solution Solved by dragoon20005,

Ooooh. That Athlon sounds tasty.

someone ordered an Athlon build?

here you go

the GPU can work with the PSU

the PSU has a PCI-E power plug

the 270 need only 1 plug

Motherboard: Asus A78M-A Micro ATX FM2+ Motherboard  ($59.78 @ Newegg)
Video Card: PowerColor Radeon R9 270 2GB TurboDuo Video Card  ($139.20 @ Newegg)
Case: Cooler Master N400 ATX Mid Tower Case  ($49.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $510.90
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

So I've been around here a while but I can never manage to get good budget builds.

My friend wants a gaming PC ~600$.

Right now all I have picked out is the CPU and Mobo size.

Mobo size: mATX

CPU: Pentium G3258

Primary use: Gaming

Budget: 600$

Location: Canada

Buying From: Mem express

I don't think I forgot anything!

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

I'll get something! Probs something like this. I can pick up an EVGA 430W for ~35$.

Well, it doesn't make much sense... the new Pentium is rather for enthusiasts who don't need the power. It's better to get AMD in this price. Also 2 cores are very limiting.

I see, do you think the FX 4300 would be a good choice? or one of the other new low end CPUs?

  • 2 weeks later...

what I would recommend is that 80 dollar Athlon maybe, the quad core one.  Or bump it to the i3 but a cheaper mobo since no overclocking is to be had for that card.
