I think this would make for a interesting guide, since I don't believe a lot of people on the forum know what Short-Stroking a HDD means.

Short stroking is a crap idea IMO you lose most of your drive's capacity and end up paying more for a GB than just buying an SSD.

I think its a interesting concept, it all comes down to how you use your HDD anyway~

I'd personally never do it since I NEED the capacity. I always find myself low on space....

Yeah... Search short stroking up and you will find that almost all articles are from 2008/2009 when it was relevant to do this before SSDs got cheaper.

Btw: You mean HDDs right? Because HHD is a Hybrid Hard Drive, which consists of both an HDD and a SSD ;)

I dont see short stroking a HDD bad or useless. U can still use the rest of the disk as a storage partition that is just accessed rarely.
So you loose no capacity.

Now that SSDs are cheap that is true, but they are still expensive $/GB and not everyone can afford them.

This is a great trick for those people that have a <600$ PC or a old one.

Even so doesnt seem that complicated.

If I get time (probably I wont have but) I will try it and I might explain it. I have 1 or 2 HDDs I could try it on.
