New monitor in da house

Elenneth89

Thank you for all your answer, I got my mind a little bit more clear from doubts.

Basically I have to choose between image quality and fast refreshing rate for a more smooth gaming experience (at least with FPS and so) for now.

I see you have a PB278Q. Are you satisfied with it? Have you ever tried a 120Hz monitor so you can tell me if there is a notable difference with a 60Hz one?

I Previously had 3x vg248qe's (the 144hz 1ms 1080p)  I notice a difference, but the sheer beauty of the colors and images is well worth sacrificing a tiny bit of smoothness.

The only times I can tell the difference is when you're playing an FPS, and someone is running horizontally across your screen, it was a little bit easier to aim with the 144hz monitors.  Besides that, it's really negligible.

Before I sold the last vg248qe, I took a picture of it next to my pb278q, you can tell how much more true-to-life the colors are.

Sorry for the flash :(

It seems that for now I cannot have everything I want in a single piece of hardware =(

Maybe in the future we will be able to see something?

Don't know if I have to be tempted by the ROG Swift, but from your image I can see the huge difference between IPS and TL.

I'm not into FPS nor car games, so I don't really need all of this refreshing rate.

Also taking a 1080p one is not an option, since I'm oriented to the 27", right?

wait til end of june and get the brand new foris 2434 from Eizo, a superior Japanese monitor perfect for gaming and multi media - g-sync is just nvidia marketing and asus jumps into the hype-train in the very front seats w/ their rog swift for 800€ -_-  i wonder how many ppl will buy that rip-off.

You don't think the ROG will worth that price?

Alright listen..

The Foris has 91.75ppi, the Swift has good ppi, 108.5 i believe ... so here it wins. The Swift has a higher refreshrate, due to its TN, lower input lag aswell as g-sync [which i dont give f*cks about], so here it wins again. However the Foris has a very satisfying and enough for any game on the market refreshrate/input lag and that with an IPS. For me IPS is a must, you simply will not be happy with a TN panel anymore once you owned an IPS panel or i guess any panel with better color reproduction.

Now it is for you to decide, if 3 inches more makes the dealbreaking difference and if your GPU will push over 60Hz on a res of 2560x1440 maxed out w/ next gen games like GTA5 or Witcher3 after all + an extra 500€ over the Foris which already costs 300€, which is not cheap either imo.

If one does not fail at times, then one has not challenged himself.
