Question about headphone/mic combo jack

I have a laptop with a 3.5mm headphone/microphone combo jack. Does anyone know how I can use it to record audio to my computer like a normal "line in" or microphone jack?

If you don't already have a mic, just get a USB mic.

Buy audio in and a audio out splitter I payed it about 4 or 5$

Most desktop microphones are usb or xlr now so the 3.5mm doesn't get much use anymore. It's mostly headset mics that used 3.5mm. If you happen to have a mic that actually uses 3.5mm then get a 2x 3pole to 4pole adapter.
