WiFi has better speeds than my wired.

My ISP is TWC, sadly. As anyone can expect I always have a lot of issues with them. I am paying for 35/5 and seem to be getting it just fine on my wireless network at home. Though my desktop seems to only be getting 3-12/5.

I have tried updating my drivers, factory resetting the modem TWC gave me, which is an Ubee, using my personal router (E1200 with dd-wrt), changing ethernet cords, using different ports, disabling/enabling my NIC, and so on.

When I use artificial tests like speedtest.net or speedof.me I get the 3-12/5 on my desktop and the 35/5 on my phone. When I tried to do real downloads, like through steam and my browser, I actually got around 30 Mbps. (though it took a moment to reach that speed)

I have talked to TWC a few times to see if it was their end or if there was something they could tell me, but it pretty much amounts to nothing. There are times when I do get my 35/5 from the artificial tests, but it is rare.

This used to not be such an issue, I was somewhat content with my network. Now that my desktop, which needs the fastest connection out of my devices, gets horrible speeds I am at a loss of what to do. I have done all I can think of.

Is there anything I have missed? Something else I can try?

My desktop is custom built, but the NIC is the onboard (ASRock), running Windows 8.1 with all updates.

Edit: so I lost connection for about 30 seconds (unplanned) and I went to check my speeds because I have nothing better to do at 7 am. Viola. My speeds are as they should be. I don't know if this is permanent or wth is going on. I honestly just can't take TWC's s**t anymore. Sadly they are they only ISP in my area.

I just checked my speeds after waking up and I am getting 20/6.
