Hi guys,

One of my aunties is having a problem with a USB flash drive of which has a years worth of work on it. When she tries to insert and access the drive it saids something along the lines of "Please format before use". She needs help quick?

Thanks in advance guys!

EDIT: She's using Windows. Not sure which version as my Aunty is a bit technically challenged.

use method above if it didnt work then

format it

then use recuva and restor ur stuff on the pc (not on the USB )

then just copy it over

Run CMD(command prompt)

Run the following command: Chkdsk F: /r (where F: is the drive letter of your USB key)

@Geekazoid

You should be able to recover some if not all the data saved on the drive.

Thanks guys! I knew how to do this but it just slipped my mind.

This is being sorted over the phone. I think what's happen is that she has just pulled the USB flash drive out without safely removing it and has possibly corrupted the files. So not quite sure what do. We got her to try an check the drive for errors but for some reason it couldn't do it. So, have you guys got any suggestions?

Thanks in advance. :)
