So I just upgraded windows 8 solely for the Ultra Fast Boot feature (dw friend bought it for me as early bday present) and now it isn't letting me use it, when I try and use the Ultra Fast Boot feature it says

The VBIOS of your discrete VGA card does not support UEFI GOP, so it can not support "Ultra Fast Boot" and "CSM Diable"

I was so keen on using this feature, because my stupid splash screen takes 15 seconds (taking whole boot time to 30 seconds give or take, I know it's fast, but my friend has the same SSD and same Mobo and boots in 15 seconds flat, already tried making the splash screen timer shorter, but it didn't have any effect)

If you can help me that'd be great, I'm really gutted it doesn't work :c

Go into BIOS and reduce splash screen time to 3 seconds.

put it to 1 put it to 50 nothing makes a difference. I already said that I tried in OP

boot time is the only advantage over win 7 that people can give me and yet it seems to still be slow. 15 seconds to boot is about what I get on win 7 so meh.

If the boot time is the only advantage that they can give, they really don't understand W8 .. at all.

Since your GPU does not support it, you are stuck.

Surely there is a fix? Why wouldn't a GTX 680 support it, is there anything I can do about this?

Its a known issue and there is no solution. You can get secureboot but not the ultra fast boot.

on the Asus website, it says it's windows 8 compatible, as if it doesn't work with Ultra Fast Boot, you think I could give them a ring?

It does? I had no such luck with EVGA :/

Give them a ring ~ the guys at ASUS will give you a solution or a definite answer.

The splash screen has nothing to do with the GPU.

Disable spash screen in the BIOS.

please give me more then, aside from the crap that all games run better because only AAA titles are a little better SOMETIMES and older games actually struggle more.

persuade me.

it shouldn't change, you can turn off the splash screen in the bios your problem has NOTHING to do with your GPU and if it does you have a crappy motherboard. since I don't know that motherboard too well I can't help much.

You've definitely been misinformed, what other BS have they told you? "Games run better", I never heard that argument in a "Windows 8 vs Windows 7" discussion. :P

There are many benefits and improvements with Windows 8, but faster boot times and better game performance are at the bottom of the list for me!

Although this is not the place to argue about this, if you're interested feel free to send me a PM and I will happily tell you more about this. ^^
