Hi Guys,

My friend commissioned me to build him a gaming PC capable of playing all the latest games, being a little bit aesthetically nice to look at, and portable(He goes to LAN events).

This is what I came up with:

http://pcpartpicker.com/user/LtRoyalShrimp/saved/xzdxFT

He plays a lot, and I mean a LOT of League of Legends, and one of the priorities was maxing out the graphics(I lol'ed at this) while keeping 60fps.

I went a tiny bit overkill, but this computer needs to last for a couple years. Mind you, he will be playing on a single 1080p monitor, and the main games are minecraft, lol, Planetside 2 and maybe some others.

So, please be respectful if you disagree with something, and if you do, please explain your reasoning, and what you would do instead.

Thanks,

-Shrimp

I like Nvidia GPU's(Although I use a 7970) due to easier updating and easier UI overall. My friend is not the most computer savvy person.

The only problem for me is the case, but that is just my preference, I would go for this http://www.newegg.com/global/uk/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811112348

Tek syndicate have a good video about it.

Bad link :(

Sacrifice you're SSD and put that money into your graphics card. An SSD won't actually make you're games look better. Sure you'll have to wait a couple extra seconds here and there, but with that money you can get a 770.  Also remember you can always add one later.

Since you said you want for it to last couple of years, i suggest that you:

- Go with K CPU

- Stronger GPU (if you're on a budget, 770/280x)

And that PSU is a little bit overkill, even if you're OC'ing...

I'd have to disagree with this. If someone is on a budget they should be avoiding K SKU Intel chips and put the additional money towards a better GPU. Games have been more GPU bound lately so it only makes sense imo

Mobile Devices I ASUS Zenbook UX31E I Nexus 7 (2013) I Nexus 5 32GB (red)

But for boot, maybe ill go down 64GB? But for boot an SSD is critical these days.

Are you not using Gaming Evolved? It does exactly the same as Geforce Experience. But I have to admit Geforce Experience has a cleaner UI.

The standoffs that's pre-installed in the Prodigy aren't tall enough for Hyper 212+ backplate to be intalled, so I changed it to clip-on heatsink.

I went with H97 board, because of non-K CPU, that have similar features to the Z board you selected.

Good luck!

The OP already put Z97 Mobo and an aftermarket CPU cooler, so why can't he exactly splurge a little more for a K CPU O.o

They have the same basic performance, but K version is OC capable, which for some people is a plus...

I agree it make a huge difference on boot. My rig takes a solid 3-4 minutes to boot. however I almost never shutdown my rig so i don't see the benefit. But that's just me personally.
