I've heard from a few sources that the PS3 is backwards compatible with some sort of software modification. I'm aware of major backwards compatibility models such as PS2>PS, Xbox360>A handful of Xbox, Wii>Gamecube and early release PS3s do have the ability to play PS2/1 games.

I'm looking at consolidating as much of my gaming gear as possible - and heard that some software out there will allow PS3 slim versions to play PS2 games. I've also heard that USB dongles can be used to allow backwards compatibility?

Does anyone know of anything like this?

:) Thanks,

Only the first few had a special chip in them, that made it backwards compatible, the new ones do not have them
