Asus JZ for desktop replacement or MSI GS60 Pro for portable monster, Aorus X7 comes to mind too it's dual gpu so it has it's own problems, but still.

What is your preference in regard to portability? If you don't mind a 17" laptop that weights close to ten pounds, the Asus G750JZ is a very good choice. On the other end, there are a number of ultra-thin options that are available now, but you just have to keep in mind that the cooling of the hardware won't be anywhere near as good. And then of course, there are always options in between. xD

My price is $2,000 and it has to be a laptop, I cannot get a rig, so, which laptop is best for $2,000?

I'm using it for gaming.

I would like higher resolution screens but if there isn't I don't mind.

Thanks!

Without going too crazy, you can look at sager.

http://www.sagernotebook.com/index.php?page=product_info&model_name=NP8298 (17", customize to your budget and likes)

http://www.sagernotebook.com/index.php?page=category_browse&selected_cat=special&mid=NP8258 (15", Customize to your likes)

Or if you really need the higher resolution, Eurocom has a 13.3" 3K version, but it only has a GTX860m.

Also take a look at the Y510p series from Lenovo or the MSI 3K series.

is the MSI GT60 DominatorPro 3k-475 worth it?

How is 3k in general? is it worth the money spent on it?

I would guess that it might struggle to play some of the more graphically demanding games at 3K resolution, but I don't really have any benchmarks to back that up. Personally, I think I'd just prefer to have the 1080p screen.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure the MSI GT series uses a single fan to cool both the CPU and GPU. I'd imagine the i7-4700MQ and GTX 880M would run pretty hot as a result, so I don't know if I'd recommend it.

I would go for a notebook with a 2,3, or 4k display and a GTX 880m therefore you almost don't need Anti-Aliasing because its higher resolution (is just a number)

But now I can't find any 17 inch beast with those specs.

MSI serries use a single fan while asus gamingmodels  use dual fans which is a must for extreme speccy fatty notebooks.
If you are not interested in 2k+ monitors then I guess the Asus JZ laptop what Linus uses packs a nice punch its price.

But I find the MSI have a better keyboard IMO
