It isn't a huge difference, but basically it means in every inch of display the swift has 16 more pixels, and the overall pixel density is higher.

 

More pixels per inch = higher perceivable 'crispness' of image, a 20 inch 1080p display is much sharper than a 42 inch 1080p display.

It's not a huge increase in number, but look at the size. You're getting a significantly bigger screen with better image quality.

Both of those in unison is the reason most people think it's awesome.

see this is why you can not just look at one aspect of resolution, pixel density and size.... you have to look at all three.

 

its a 2560x1440 27 inch display with 107ppi.

 

you will have more than(2560*1440)/(1920*1080)= 1.7 times the amount of usable area with any 1440p display. the ppi of 107 means how close you can get to the display with out seeing a lot pixels. in this case almost the same distance as you would as a 24inch. plus any text and pics would look so much sharper. 

 

that is how you look and compare displays.

 

and color and response time is a totally different topic.

K I get it. 16 pixels just didn't seem like a while lot to me but what do I know. But I suppose when adding screen size as well and getting more it makes sense

You have obviously never seen how much fits on a 1440p panel vs as 1080p panel. Here's an idea:
