In gaming, probably only a very small fraction, like a few FPS.

There is probably a  increase of fps between 2 and-10 fps but when you are running sli or crossfire with highend cards you will notice the diffrence also in 4k gaming.

In some cpu heavy games for sure. I went for the 4770k because I want to run sli in the future and I run a bunch vm's from time to time.

In some highly multi-threaded games it can make a difference:

| CPU: Core i7-8700K @ 4.89ghz - 1.21v  Motherboard: Asus ROG STRIX Z370-E GAMING  CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i V2 |
| GPU: MSI RTX 3080Ti Ventus 3X OC  RAM: 32GB T-Force Delta RGB 3066mhz |
| Displays: Acer Predator XB270HU 1440p Gsync 144hz IPS Gaming monitor | Oculus Quest 3 VR

Do you have a build log? I would like to express my feelings towards your GPU choice.

Back on-topic: i7 is a better choice if you are going to keep the PC for 4+ years, if not then the i5 is better in terms of value as you only gain a <5% improvement when going with an i7 over an i5.

The GPU is probably the only thing left from the original build, and seeing as I am not too worried about playing anything that is too graphic intensive, I haven't upgraded.

Just for reference, the original build was a Pentium G645, 4GB and the 7750.

A GTX 770 will probably be making it's way into my build sometime soon.
