Could you tell us what motherboard you have? The majority of newer boards have onboard audio that is just as good as a soundcard. 

 

If you have a modern board, it's not really worth going for a soundcard unless the onboard is broken or you have some seriously hard to run headphones. But if you have headphones like that, and external DAC and AMP would be better for you.

Your Asus P9X79 board will not get any improvement from a sound card. Unless your onboard is broken in some way such as static or cracking, a sound card will likely actually be worse than your onboard especially for low impedance headphones.
