Corrupt and Read Only Files

Hey guys, I havent been on much lately due to RL things going on, but been playing Facebook games as they are more casual.
Heres the thing- my computer last night was left long enough that it shut itself down, which I dont let happen often but isnt unusual. When I turned it on this morning my user profile had an error saying it was corrupted or something, and it opened with windows XP at factory settings. (Yes XP still lol)
All my files gone, all games and everything except for some reason a few things like Steam and ITunes, though idk about the music.. I tried a safemode reset to previous week, but no luck, and attempted to log on as admin and copy over my profile to a new profile, which the computer thought about for 50 minutes and Im pretty sure it wasnt going to do it, so gave up on that.

Odd thing was when I searched through explore I could see my files, but there was a worrying note there that they are read-only. Yet I was able to access them when through there, and Ive been able to put Minecraft back on my desktop and get on, although all the saved settings and IPs were gone.

Anyone know what this is and how I can fix it? Im a bit worried with the read -only bit it could be that Gameover Zeus virus duo, but idk.

Any help appreciated.

sounds like crypto-virus.
Do you have an email client? Or do you use browser?
