[US] $120 AM3+ Mobo?

Go to solution Solved by Priller,

Where can I find the 990FXA-UD3 Rev 4.0?

When you order it look at the picture listed and you should see the heatsink difference. It also may be listed in the product description.

I'd like to be able to overclock the GPU and CPU.  Earlier, someone recommended this.  However, I've read a lot of mixed reviews which sort of scares me.  Can anyone maybe show me a AM3+ board that's reliable?  I have absolutely no need for SLI/Crossfire and would like USB 3.0.  My preferred colors are black or red.  My budget for a motherboard is ~$120-$140.  Please provide some way that I can know that it's a reliable mobo.

It's one of the best AM3+ motherboards available.

That is the Rev 3.0 board that still had issues with the VRM heatsink and APM control missing in the bios. It did have a UEFI instead of the Award bios tho.

i have that mobo btw, is there a way i could somehow have gigaybte update my mobo to the rev 4.0?

You could try to RMA it and tell them in keeps throttling the CPU. You may have to RMA it twice until they send you a rev 4.0 of the board.

They "Fixed" a damaged header on my older Rev 1.1 board instead of replacing the board. Also take pictures before sending it to CYA.

Btw, how would i tell if its throttling the cpu? I do not have an oc on it, but when i play a game like bf3 with my 8350 and 770, the frames sometimes drop like hell at weird times, could that be the throttling?

mines rev 3.0 just for clarification.

Use something like MSI Afterburner and OCCT to watch the CPU core speed drop and see if the core temp or VRM temps are hot when it does it.

Currently there is an issue with BF4 having massive frame drops. Xfactor, Levelcap, and Matimo had the same issue so it could be a problem after the last patch.

I was playing bf3 on iltra and getting drops to like 30fps, and not bf4.

How can i check the vrm temps again? for core temps i would use like cpuz or something right?
