Hello, in the process of fixing my computer from an unknown issue (http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/165006-pc-wont-start-on-overclock-that-used-to-work/ )i have just replaced my processor. all viewable systems appear to be functioning such as the cpu pump and all my fans but im getting absolutely no reading from my computer including the BIOS. before i replaced it with the possible faulty processor i was stll getting the BIOS to come up and all. Is there some step in the replacement process that I'm unaware of? are you supposed to reset something first? any help appreciated.

Have you replaced thermal paste correctly? Can you post a picture? Check if your graphics card is being powered correctly, once I forgot to replug the 6pin connector in and the pc would turn on, the fans would spin but nothing was to be seen. Plugging it back in obviously solved the problem b)

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

so heres where im at. my brand new $250 4670k got me nowheres. why i was still getting BIOS on the old one and nothing on the new one im not sure. yes the theraml past was applied correctly and every single cable on the entire board was carefully inspected. i also reset the CMOS through the physical switch and i took out the battery. i also tried my two RAM sticks in multiple single and double configurations. i also tried pluggin in the monitor to the onboard graphics with the gpu taken out. stiiiiiiiiiiiiill nothing. so now i think i will try replacing the motherboard and seeing where that gets me since many problems appear to point towards that now. any thoughts? (really appreciating all the help youve given me)

At this point either the monitor is broken (did you try differend video cables/ different monitors?) or the motherboard is dead. I really can't see what else would cause these problems with not one, but two chips. Have you tried with the old cpu? Do you reach bios with that one? If you don't it's definitely the mobo.

ya ill try swapping back to the old cpu to see if i can get the BIOS to come up with that but then i suppose allot point to the mobo. my haswell chip will work with a z97 right (gigabyte z97x gaming 5)
