So I have an EXTREMELY complicated situation. I want to play on an eSports dota team but i dont exactly know where to find one. i have sattellite interent at my house, therefore i cannot play dota online at my house unless i play with bots. i have been playing dota online at my local LAN center. So, how do i get involved in eSports?

You need to be able to play online.

I don't know about Dota, but the competitive gaming I played when I was younger happened  because I formed a team, actively recruited online, and found people with the right attitude. For reference, I was in top 20 US teams in both wc3 and guildwars 1, and had sponsorships with logitech and icemat (now steelseries). Esports wasn't as big then.

If you cant play online with other people, esports is irrelevant.

I have a 2019 macbook pro with 64gb of ram and my gaming pc has been in the closet since 2018

You don't need fibre optic...a basic internet plan should work fine. I thought it was a troll because you have barely any experience playing online and you think you can roll with professionals. That is just naive.

I should be studying.

No Im talking like our only options where we live are Sattelite and Dial up. It sucks. Dial up has a good ping but poop speeds and vice versa for sattelite. there is a 4000 ms ping. And im not saying Im going to the internationals this year. I just want to join a local team and enjoy playing dota competitively and not just casually.

If the only options for internet where you live are Satellite and Dial up, I don't think there are local teams. If you want to play it more competitively, search for people around you who play, talk to other people at the LAN center you go to. Maybe they can organize an event or know of any leads when it comes to playing Dota competitively.

I should be studying.

Just make sure you do college or university part time. Esports is fun and all. but after your 5-10 years in the spotlight are up you don't really have any job paths. So do something part time to help yourslef out once you finish epsorts.

This. Most pro level players have studies or even degree as backup plan. If you watched the TI4 Quals, they talked it in EU HUB couch stream. What they would be doing if not gaming and after gaming (in their case its most likely gonna be career anyway).

how is that possible? Are you sure that its not wireless connecting to a tower like a cellular tower? The reason there is a 4000 ms ping is because of the time it takes for the sattelite on my room to communicate with the sattelite in space. I think that he has wireless internet. Also there is a bandwidth limit. You get 10gbs a month and once that is used up your get FAPed. What FAP is it is Free Access Policy meaning that your speeds are slowed down to about 20 kb/s instead of 500 kb/s.

that may be what he has then. not totally sure. one thing i do know is that if he is having bad weather his connection becomes the most unreliable thing ever

You should ask him and let me know. If he does have satelllite internet that isnt capped with a good ping I would like to know what carrier that is.

That may be WiFi then. I have this kind of connection as well. Works like a charm though even when the weather is bad since it's 5 GHz and I'm 100 metres away from the main tower.

you need broadband internet to play Dota, even to practice against real opponents. Satellite internet most likely won't cut it. Switch internet providers if you can.
