hard drive help

Go to solution Solved by 79wjd,

windows xp: start>run>msconfig>startup>uncheck anything unnecessary>restart.

windows 7: start>system configuration>startup>uncheck anything unnecssary>restart.

That will stop all that crap from running on start up.

P.s. do make sure you know what each item is before disabling it.

I am reaching out for help for my computer because i am sick and tired of random stuff like anti virus scans and stuff like that popping up on my computer everytime I reboot. Would it help it I got a new hard drive and re-downloaded the games and programs I want? I only want to be able to play my computer without it being slow. i have a 1tb hard drive now and only used like 200gb so far.... it cant be that i have to much but because I have stupid programs that wont leave me alone. i wanted to get a bigger hard drive anyways can anyone help?

Disable them.

Anti virus in 2014 is crap. It doesn't stop jack these days.

Remove programs you don't need.

Disable programs from turning on at startup (Start bar > Run > MSConfig > Startup)
