I here to ask for advice.

As of now my laptop as experience its first blue screen. My laptop is an Acer Aspire 4750G Core i5 2nd gen and its 3 years old as of now. Ive had some problems with it but I manage to solve them with help from my friends but now I think I should think of getting a new laptop.

So I'm planning to get a new one I'm torn on getting ASUS G56JR :http://www.ocdrift.com/review-asus-rog-g56jr-gaming-notebook-pc/ or Asus G46: http://www.asus.com/Notebooks_Ultrabooks/G46VW/

I'm just afraid that the G56 has bad cooling because I'm tired of a bad cooling system specially on a gaming grade laptop.

So which is better or if you have any suggestions please do tell.

I live in the Philippines I'm only limited to the things that my country can actually get.

Now, you're not being very helpful are you? He clearly needs a gaming laptop.

I am an advocate of the mini-ITX Z97 + T100A route, but the T100A can't do anything other than do word processing, watch youtube, surf the web, and play Minecraft.

Though @RKC if you can live with using the Acer for now, I'd highly recommend a proper desktop. Sandy Bridge i5-Ms are still very capable (not for gaming, but you get what i mean)

You should probably get the G46 instead, because I know how hot gaming laptops can get. The thin ones such as MSI's new thin gaming laptops and Razer's can practically fry an egg while gaming. God forbid the user's hands suffer the same fate.

I hear that Asus' ROG laptops are also lighter than Alienware M17/18. Those things are bricks.

The issue is that any powerful gaming laptop is going to cause a slew of problems. And buying an underpowered laptop for gaming...is just wrong and not worthwhile.

I wonder if the G46 has a 4th gen version. I only See 3rd gen ones.

I'm just an occasional gamer.

Can someone help me verify if there is actually 4th gen one.

I don't think any Asus laptops have haswell chips--just looking on the side filter menu theres no 4th ten option.

Well the g56 has 4th gen processor.

If only the g46 has I would gladly buy it in a heart beat

The only real difference is better integrated graphics and better battery life. Neither of which matter in a gaming laptop. Batteyr life is guaranteed to be shit and integrated graphics...well yea..

OK... we are talking about this things anyway.

i want to be a techie a bit because I'm embarrassed to say that my Girlfriend is more of a techie than I am and fixes my laptop all the time. Now I just want to learn more so I can take care of my gadgets more without relying on someone else.

Can you guys give me any tips.

Whats better a Laptop that has better Processor but a lower graphic card or a lower processor with a better Graphic card? and why

gpu if gaming. Most games run off the gpu, although some are more cpu demanding...so it depends on the game.

Also, the best gpu in the world matched with the shittiest processor is going to be terrible since its going to be bottlenecked like crazy by the processor. So, you really need a good balance...

Ideally, you want to buy the best gpu you can and match it with the best cpu you can so long as neither cause a bottleneck.

Absolutely no difference. All mobile Intel CPUs except for "Extreme Edition" absolutely suck compared to desktop counterparts.

Haswell also runs hotter. Not ideal in a mobile form factor, at all.

OK... we are talking about this things anyway.

I see a few problems here.

I can understand that you would like to be able to fix stuff. That's where we all started. So why not get a desktop or a mini-ITX build if you want portability? I'm sure even your girlfriend would be much more comfortable fixing a desktop than a laptop. I mean, unless you like to repair laptops, which doesn't make any sense.

You haven't stated that you ABSOLUTELY need the open-it-up-and-game-anywhere portability of the gaming laptop. A mini-ITX build would allow you to carry it around to friends' houses, etc. as long as you bring your monitor.

And on second thought, gaming laptops aren't portable at all because they lag like shit and last about 5 minutes on battery, and are heavy as f*ck and are hot as f*ck.

And since you want to learn more and be less reliant on techies like your gf, why not a desktop? You can plan it with us and then build it, which is always a good learning experience. So that in a few weeks' time you won't be asking questions like

"Whats better a Laptop that has better Processor but a lower graphic card or a lower processor with a better Graphic card? and why"

Instead, you'll understand that the large majority of laptop CPUs marketed as mobile i3s, i5s and i7s are inferior to a desktop i3 like the i3-4130, and that quad core i7 models branded as -QM still suck because they have below-3.0GHz clockspeeds. By then, you'll understand that as a general rule, mobile graphics chips are anywhere from 1-4 tiers below their desktop namesakes.

Not trying to insult you in any way, just that you'd probably be better off with a desktop. That is, you decide that extreme portability is a must-have.

The issue is that any powerful gaming laptop is going to cause a slew of problems. And buying an underpowered laptop for gaming...is just wrong and not worthwhile.

Aha, now I see that he's only an occasional gamer. Thus I conclude that gaming laptops should be out of the question here.

Buying laptops like this are near pointless. I would try and get something with a stand alone GPU. They may look cheap, but they are pointless. My choice would be a mini itx, but there are some more expensive laptop choices which give decentish performance, but oyu pay through the roof.

The G56 is the more powerful laptop. Larger screen, which I'm sure you noticed. The GTX 760M is about 30% more powerful than the GTX 660M. Could be the difference between high settings and ultra settings.

Asus has a 2-year international warranty which will keep you from having to worry about hardware failure. Learning about dissecting laptops, troubleshooting and sourcing parts is quite the undertaking, especially when you do not have the basic concept of hardware specifications yet ... I mean no disrespect. The warranty covers this, Asus has full time employees that specialize in this type of stuff.

If you are worried about the cooling of the G56, you can purchase a laptop cooling pad, there are some with fans or without.

i3-4170, H81 board, 8GB DDR3, Crucial M4, GTX 770, Xigmatek Vangaurd Case, Creative Titanium X-fi, Razer Carcharias, 500w PSU, 24" VA panel and a 42" IPS. Thinking about getting a plant.

Asus is pretty good with cooling on their gaming laptops, I have had a g73 for 3 yrs and have never had overheating issues with it even when gaming for hrs at a time.
