Z87-A or Z97-A

Both should last for a long time to come.

We weren't sure if Devil's Canyon would work on Z87, after a firmware update, it will work.  Z97 is supposed to support Broadwell, if it supports broadwell, that means it is on the same 1150 socket, which is the same on Z87, so with another firmware update, the Z87 should be able to support Broadwell also.

Go with whatever is least expensive and has the features you want.

, it is all about what features it comes with.

Use whatever money you save on the motherboard, and buy the best GPU you can afford.

The Z97-A is  a very good choice for a motherboard.
