What mobo would this be? Your manual has best definition on how it works. Its either 1) Clear_CMOS switch is ON and you won't be able to boot or everytime you do it loads factory defaults or 2) Mobo is getting power/CMOS battery is working. My old mobo had the option 1), the current one doesn't have the LED at all.

  • 3 weeks later...

i don't think you can turn it off

i have the mpower max z87 and i also have that led on the clear cmos button

you shouldn't press it if you don't want to reset your bios and it also won't turn the led off

if it really bothers you, you can switch the PSU off, that'll turn it of in few sec

What does the CL_CMOS light on the IO of my motherboard mean? Can i turn it off? What will happen if I turn it off?

This light is really annoying, as my PC is in my bedroom and its only on when I turn my computer off.

i refreshed my PC with new SSD and spend some time in bios to make raid 0 and among others, i set the PC to sleep after 30 min in bios

and when the PC is in sleep mode, only light on the mobo is from the onboard power button, no more clear cmos or any other led, just that one on the power button

maybe that'll work the same on z77 mobo
