Hey forum,

I've recently started using Adobe Lightroom to edit my photos a lot more, and now I want some feedback. I'm 14 and I photograph at school events, and I absolutely love it. If you do criticize me, please explain. Was the composition alright, exposure, etc.? Here's the link: https://www.flickr.com/photos/franklinzheng/sets

Thanks,

Franklin Zheng

I think it's fine since you are not doing photoshoots just shooting people going about it looks great. More f1.8 wouldn't hurt though

Try experimenting with a shallower depth of field, would really bring out the subjects

Thanks man! F/1.8 would be a pain in the booty to lock focus on haha.

Not really :) and where is the fun if it is easy

On sunny days I'll have to raise that shutter to 1/4000 though, but when I'm shooting indoors the low f stop would be such a blessing haha.

Thanks for your reply,

Ah yes the nifty-fifty. Might think of stepping up to the f/1.4 version in the future. I can only stand the sound of that motor for so long haha. :P

Nifty fifty is the best!!! The f1.4 is not worth it to be honest its ONLY worth it because of f1.4. If you are shooting them at like f8 then they both look the same and sometimes the f1.8 looks better!

Better lenses out there

But aren't they expensive? If I buy an expensive one with a fitter thread it's only going to be on my 50mm. :(

Buy a big one and get stepdowns? You don't really need them on 70-200mm's unless you do movies with that and want to keep the shutter at 1/60. if you don't film movies only get one for your primes, even then.

I don't think I'll get the filters, as I rarely go out and shoot in the middle of the day outside. Most of my shoots are either indoors or at night. It would be a waste if I bought it only to use it a couple times.
