So I built my first rig in march on a budget and am now in a position to upgrade a bit, but I am not sure how to upgrade it. My new budget for upgrading is max $1100. I was thinking either a  single GTX Titan or a 7970 Ghz Edition and a new monitor, but am open to suggestions. Some other things I was thinking of was buying a sound card and some better peripherals. I made the mistake of not really looking into parts my self and trusting a friend to put together the parts list. My main uses for this PC are Gaming and 3D Animation (3ds Max) and some video editing

So here is my Rig:

Asus P8Z77-V LK

Intel i5 3570K @ 4.5Ghz

G Skill 16GB of RAM @ 1600Mhz

EVGA GTX 660 SC 2GB

Seagate 1TB HDD

Rosewill 630W PSU

Corsair H50

CM Haf 912

Razer DeathAdder

$20 Dynex Keyboard

Skullcandy Hesh Headphones

Samsung S22B350H 22'' monitor

Note: I have a 120GB Samsung 840 SSD on the way so I don't think I need to upgrade that.

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

Depends what 3D animation, and what video editing, but if that's what you do on your pc in terms of school/work, it may be a good idea to make the jump to 3770k for the multi-core, multi-threading. Just a thought.

That one is boring though, Titan is awesome, everyone will be jealous. What about a mechanical keyboard? Quickfire tk is cheap? Razer Black widow Ultimate is awesome?

Ryzen 5 1500x, Noctua NH-L9x65 SE-AM4, GA-AB350N, 16GB 1600Mhz, EVGA GTX 970, 250GB Samsung 960 Evo, 120GB Samsung 840 Evo, 1TB WD Green & 2TB Seagate Barracuda. 650w OCZ ZX & Cooler Master Elite 130. Acer CB241HQK 4K, LG IPS234V-PN 1080p, Ducky Zero Shine All Blue/Anne Pro Brown/SteelSeries Apex Pro & Razer Naga 2014

I can definitely recommend that you get a mechanical keyboard. Check out the Razer Blackwidow Tournament Edition, it's inexpensive but very high quality, even better than my Blackwidow Ultimate that costed nearly twice as much. It'll also last a life time, based on how well they've both kept up for me.

A 7950 or 7970 seems to be the best value cards in the $300+ price range, I'd advise against getting a Titan because it has a very low value and will deplete your budget for something that won't last nearly as long as a mechanical keyboard.

You might want to check the ASUS VG248QE out as well, it's a huge advantage to have if you're in to FPS for instance. Maybe a mouse pad as well, I can recommend the Scarab.

Maybe something like this: http://gyazo.com/e8030f9018546131c9c417014eed38ad

and the gtx 770/780 when they come out.

Edit: rumors are the 770 should be about $400-500. I forgot about the 780's estimated price though.

Well if you notice your 3570k slowing you down while doing 3D animation then I would grab a 3770k and probably a gtx 670. I know the 7970 is wayyyy faster but I'm not forsure what programs you are using and if they are benefiting from cuda or not.

Yeah the more I read and watch the more it seems that the Titan just isn't worth it, I was kinda hoping someone would logically convince me into it just because they're so damn cool. As for monitors, I don't necessarily care about frame rate as opposed to pixel density and colour depth. As far as keyboards go, a illuminated keyboard is a must, and I was looking at the Rosewill mechanical one aswell as the Black widow ultimate, are they're any others to consider?

Are you sure that illumination is necessary? I thought it was until I found myself not using it often and thinking it was a tad childish, at least with blue LEDs. If you do need it to be backlit I'd recommend a tenkeyless keyboard with a non-glossy finish and Blue switches, such as this one (the white backlight looks very appealing by the way).
