wait for 700 series i would say, but right now i would say 680 and here are the reasons,

Complete drivers (amd is still having trouble)

cuda cores

PhysX

sure you dont get the 5 games, but if the card hardly work because of the drivers whats the point?

the 7970 is a good card to, im just giving my opinion.

If you are running only one card now and don't plan to use Crossfire in future (at least near future as i expect AMD to improve their Crossfire in couple months or a little more), get the 7970. It offers better performance for gaming and you also get 5 free AAA games with it.

Sorry if my English is not perfect, but it isn't my native language :)

7979 outperforms 680, if you wait for 700 series you might as well wait for 9000 series instead?

the 7970 will beat the GTX 680 in everything now when Oc'd a little, hell even a 7950 with a 1200mhz+ Oc will be on par with a GTX 680, and you get free games.

Oh and OpenCL> Cuda, youll find more applications now and in the future that can take advantage of OpenCl, which is better at most things than CUDA.

Depending on prices of the 700 series, I will more likely go for the 680 and add another in later on in SLI, I know its a bit overkill but I want it to be pretty future proof, games aren't really a problem to get. Thanks for the opinions guys :)

whats it overkill in? At 1080p its not overkill in the slightest, in fact the 2gb ram make it not as futireproof as you think : )

7970 beasts the 680 in most benchmarks with the new never settle drivers and its usually cheaper.

So i say get the 7970.

...

AMD are currently working on improving frame times but that only really affects xfire set-ups, with single cards only the 7970 is faster.

Unless you have alot of money, there is no reason to get a 680, or a 7970. Get either a 670, or a 7950. Both are essentially exactly the same, except for being clocked lower.

I have allot of money to burn and I got an HD 7850. If I needed a high end card I would have went 7970 for best value and performance in return for my dollars spent. It's just basic common sense.

I would also go with the 7970 because it is better than the GTX 680.

Currently 7970 has the nearly identical price with 670 .So i think 7970 is the better choice here. But for me,i would choose 7950,oc it and save few buck to put elsewhere.
