Hey guys I'm looking to start mining Litecoin, but I have a quick question. If a website advertises an asic miner as 60mh/s how will that perform while running in a pool. I ask this because it says a supported miner is cgminer, but while running my GTX780, cgminer says that my card is performing at 150+mh/s

what is says is what it will perform.

It's impossible for the GTX 780 to perform 150mh/s on Litecoin.

Here's the hashrate from a GTX 750.

Apparently cgminer was still running on sha256d which is why it was so high

You picked the wrong GPU. Radeons are much more efficient at mining scrypts. Also, mining is no longer worth it unless you actually plan to spend way more time and effort on it than you may be intending right now.

I never planned to start mining, I picked up the GTX780 to game on which is why I look to grab an ASIC miner. Pooled mining is still good thought as on LTCRabbit, 60mh/s can get you ~5.7 LTC a day

Lemme see if I can find my settings, I was getting 600-750 khash/s per 780 depending on what I overclocked my cards to.

Hey guys I'm looking to start mining Litecoin

You're confusing me, man.

Also, scrypt currencies like Litecoin are ASIC resistant. NVIDIA GPUS are pretty useless at mining anyway (at least until Maxwell comes out) and GPUs with GCN are far more efficient. That's why anyone still mining them is using a bank of Radeon GPUs in 6-way crossfire. That's why this dude said

It's impossible for the GTX 780 to perform 150mh/s on Litecoin.

With Bitcoin, on the other hand, you can use asics. The advertisement you saw was for SHA256 algorithms. You're probably thinking that's good. It isn't. DON'T BUY IT. 60Mh/s for mining Bitcoins is not very fast. To make a profit using bitcoins, you need a huge ASIC platform running in Terahashes per second, which will set you back thousands of dollars and will stop being profitable almost as soon as it pays for itself (if it even does that.) Bitcoin has become so difficult to mine that most people have just given up. Mt. Gox was another reason.

Scrypt currencies are much more common. The algorithm is harder to process but the difficulties are much lower, which is why GPUs are good at them. It also means that hashrates for single GPUs are measured in Kilohashes, not Megahashes. 60 megahashes would be the equivalent of about 30 R9 295X2s working independently. If you are expecting to get that hashrate on a scrypt mining setup, let alone 150Mh/s, dream on, sunshine.

Take my advice: unless you are really into stock exchanges, have made a lot of money off of it and know what you're doing, don't (DON'T) get into mining.

By the way, how much is this ASIC miner? For 60Mh/s, it's gotta be worth a lot.

Also, scrypt currencies like Litecoin are ASIC resistant.

When Litecoin and other scrypt based currencies first released, they was designed to do just that; be ASIC resistant, but now they're not
