So I on the struggle bus atm. My budget is kinda tight.

Specs:

5900x ( 240 aio)

Msi B450 carbon a/c

32gb 3200mhz c16 20 20 20 40( crap kit)

Gtx 1080

750 psu

A couple m.2 ssd

A couple hdd for mostly cold storage.

1440p 144hz ips display

Define meshify c( rad front mounted)

GPU length maybe be of concern.

Mostly older titles. But I'm on a scum kick right now. A few newer titles do have some interest.

So anyways, originally I was thinking just grab a 9060 xt 16gb. But at 450$-470$ new. I felt that up lift in performance was minimal compared to the cost and wasnt worth it.

9070 is outside my budget. 7800 xt  a bit outside too.

6800 xt used I could swing without payment plan( best buy no interest 12m), but with amd sort maybe not really putting the drivers on life support might not be worth it.

Then there's the issue which GPU still plays well with dx11 and  actually see improvement.

I would prefer less features, but that seem a use case for higher end cards and they have the power to go without.

I do keep up with reviews and articles, but now that I want something I'm very indecisive. Not to mention the market is wack not just money wise.

what are the prices like on a used 3080ti (there's 10 and 12GB versions of that) in your region? Maybe a 4070?  I know the 20 series is getting cheaper now but it's useless at raytracing and doesn't offer much more raster perf than the 10 series.  If you just want more vram the 12GB 3060 is a pretty good bang for buck. not sure what it's raster perf is compared to the 1080 though. 7900 gre is coming in about the same price as the 3080ti in my region.  not sure what your buget is though 🤷‍♂️

With all the Trolls, Try Hards, Noobs and Weirdos around here you'd think i'd find SOMEWHERE to fit in!

Well my budget varies a little bit. It kind of depends.

If I was buying new from let's say Best buy. I would just finance it for 12 months with no interest for a card that is less than $500.

If I was going to pay straight up probably for a used card maybe $350 would be my cap.

A 3080 ( ti). Roughly 500 used plus or minus

I did think about the 20 series. Like you said RTX isn't very good and rast is basically the same thing as a 10 series so not really worth.

You can even look at used 6650XT's that play 1080p very well and will be able to use FSR.

SCUM requirements aren't that high, even the recommended is a 2060 or 6600 for 1080p.

Why not wait when budget improves so you don't have to finance for a hobby?

For real. They are a bit misleading. My 1080 mix settings 1440p. Is like 70 fps
